When it opened, the Golden Gate Bridge was both the longest and tallest suspension bridge in the world. The main span of the suspension structure of the bridge is 4,200 ft (1,280 m). It is 1.7 miles long (2,737 m), 90 ft (27.4 m) wide with a total height of 746 ft (227.4 m) at its massive towers. The Golden Gate Bridge is recognized for its Art Deco elements and iconic color of International Orange.
